I love being a part
of Sisters Sippin’ Tea………I love the camaraderie
that we share as women and the magnificent power that books have to heal,
encourage, entertain and inspire us. On 12/31/04 I celebrated my 30th
Wedding anniversary with my beau George. We have a son, Kenon, and a daughter,
Kendel; they are the apple of our eye, and now the essence of our heart
is our grandson, Jayden Isaiah Haynes, 16 months old. (Jayden was our
last years anniversary present born on 12/31; we are still thanking Kenon
& Jessica for this awesome bundle of joy). I’m an active member
of Church on the Move. My degree is in Business Administration.; I work
out of my home as a Contract’s Manager for Electronic Data Systems
(EDS).
I’m an avid reader and I enjoy listening to books on tape; I love
all genres. I’m exceptionally passionate about giving back to my
community; I’m an Ambassador for The African American Resource Center;
on the Board for Friends of the Library and occasionally facilitate book
discussions at one of our local libraries. I am a member of the Board
of Directors of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Oklahoma
Chapter. and my new love is our newest reading group,
“Little Sistah’s Sippin’ Tea”.
My hobbies are hanging out with family and friends, gardening, scrap booking,
visiting museums, and I have a passion for traveling; we love to cruise;
the best one yet was Alaska. I’m trying yoga this year; I’d
like to discipline myself to mediate on a more frequent basis. I love
to collect quotes that can be of help to me and hopefully I can pass them
on to be of help to someone else. One of my favorite
quotes comes from Langston Hughes “Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams
die, life is but a broken winged bird that cannot fly”.
