| Scholarship Description: Our goal is to give
back to our community by enhancing educational opportunities for
African American high school students and recent graduates who
demonstrate an interest in community and literacy. This year’s
theme - “Lifting the Veil of Ignorance” speaks
to that goal. We wish to continue a tradition of reaching out
to our young people in an effort to foster self-determination
and ignite new ideas, thereby strengthening our community. Each
candidate will be required to describe an area in the community
where there is an opportunity to increase knowledge and awareness
and explain what they have done or how they plan to help others
increase their opportunities through literacy.
